What You Need to Know about the 2010 Census
·         The Constitution requires a national census every 10 years.
·         The census is a count of everyone residing in the United States, both
citizens and non-citizens.
·         The 2010 Census will create thousands of temporary jobs.
Your Participation in the 2010 Census Matters
·         Every year, more than $300 billion in federal funds is awarded to states
and communities based on census data.
·         Census data guide local decision-makers in important community planning
efforts, including where to build new roads, hospitals and schools.
·         Census data affect how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House
of Representatives.
The 2010 Census Questionnaire: Simple and Safe
·         The 2010 Census questionnaire asks only a few simple questions of each
person. The questionnaire takes just a few minutes to complete and return by mail.
·         The Census Bureau does not release or share information that identifies
individual respondents or their household.
When your Census form arrives in the mail in March 2010, fill out the form and mail
it back.

Vendors Needed for Chicago Bungalow & Green Home Expo

The Department of Community Development is collaborating with the Historic Chicago
Bungalow Association in the 2009 Chicago Bungalow and Green Home Expo. The Historic
Chicago Bungalow and Green Home Expo is Chicago's largest and most popular home
restoration, preservation and energy-efficient renovation expo. The Expo will be
held on Saturday, October 17th, from 10am to 4pm at the Merchandise Mart. Our last
Expo drew nearly 10,000 bungalow and "green" home enthusiasts.
We are currently searching for vendors who's products and services will benefit
homeowners or potential homebuyers who attend the annual event looking for products
and expertise on everything from energy-efficient appliances to rehabbing woodwork.
Companies using, promoting, or selling environmentally friendly and sustainable
products and services will complement an exciting array of vendors specializing
in bungalows and historic preservation and rehabilitation.

The exhibitor's fee for the Expo is $250 for individual craftspeople and $800 for
business enterprises (of more than 5 employees). Non-profit organizations are free
of charge.

To register, please complete the online Participation Form at www.chicagobungalow.org.
If you or your members have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 312-744-0496.
